Develop your own Squircle Cube

What if we play maths within maths? It's what we do here. We create frames with shape of cube nets. And each side, which must be square, is replace by a squircle (a shape intermediate between a square and a circle).

Choose one of 11 cube nets or create your own custom pattern.

Instructions:

This template require 3 layers of (poly)wood or acrylic sheets. In exported file, you'll get (from left to right)

  • Top Layer

  • Inner Layer container : You'll place fabrics, wallpaper, mirror acrylic or even photos in each hole. Can be in cheaper MDF as it will not be visible.

  • Base layer : Adjust your contents with scores.

  • Contents : They are a little bigger that top layer holes (defined in "Nets settings" by Inner Padding") but they fitted perfectly in Inner layer container without letting their cutted border visibles.

Advanced Settings

Custom pattern

You can do your own design by choosing "Custom..." pattern. This template replace every "1" by a squircle. Every other chars will be replaced by an empty space.

Custom squircle

Squircle are defined by their size but also by their "Exponent". Playing with this is fun:

  • "4" makes a rounded square like in the 60's

  • "2" makes circles

  • "1" makes square on a vertex

  • "0.5" makes "stars".
