# Using Cuttle with Glowforge

## Make a Personalized Ornament with Cuttle and Glowforge

### 1\. Personalize in [Cuttle](https://cuttle.xyz/)

-   Open the [**Dog Bone Ornament**](https://cuttle.xyz/@cuttle/Dog-Bone-Ornament-cXwOVGL9s9IY) template
-   Click **Customize this template**
-   Personalize your name and other options
-   Click **Download SVG**

This design has 3 different operations that we will assign in **Glowforge**: **Engrave** for the year and the paw, **Score** for the lines between letters, and **Cut** to cut the final pieces from our material.

### 2\. Upload to [Glowforge App](https://app.glowforge.com/)

-   Click **Upload from file**
-   Select the SVG file you downloaded from Cuttle

Note: If cut lines appear dashed, drag them into the work area first.

### 3\. Choose settings

Using a Glowforge preset:

-   Select your material
-   Set the operations to **Engrave**, **Score**, and **Cut**

If you’re using a material that’s not in the Glowforge library, you can set the material settings manually. Use these settings as a starting point, then fine tune:

-   **Engrave:** full speed / full power
-   **Score:** 125 speed / 20 power
-   **Cut:** 147 speed / full power

### 4\. Cut both layers

This ornament has **2 layers**.

-   Move the layer you don’t want to cut outside the work area
-   Print the first layer and move it outside the work area once complete
-   Bring the second layer into the work area, swap materials and print the second layer

### 5\. Assemble

-   Attach double sided glue behind first layer (Federico uses [**DualTite Adhesive**](https://creativecutsupplies.com/collections/dualtite) **-** use code **CUTTLE10 for 10% off)**
-   Remove protective film, align back layer, and gently press to attach
-   Tie a loop through the hole with about 12 inches of string

Your ornament is ready to hang ✨

Optional: before clicking Download SVG, choose **Glowforge** from the **Optimize for Device** menu. This ensures that Glowforge completes inside cuts first.

## How to Score with Glowforge

Glowforge’s interface has built-in settings for scoring.

In the left panel, click the layer you want to score and then change the setting from “Cut” to “Score”.

💡

For optimal results, we recommend choosing the “**High Quality**” score. The “Draft” score, while faster, may occasionally produce slightly wiggly lines.
