Here's the latest with Cuttle.

New Family Names Christmas Tree Ornament

We just released a new Family Names Christmas Tree Ornament that uses Weld & Score and bubbly letters for a cute new look!

Just type the names of the family and your SVG cut file (or 3D print file) is generated instantly.

Score lines are automatically added between the letters so the top layer cuts out in a single piece.

We like using pre-painted white plywood or MDF for the top layer since it looks like snow that’s fallen on a tree. We have some supplier recommendations on the template if you don’t already have pre-painted white wood.

Here are some other features of this new template:

  • Automatically generates an optional backer (it also works as a single layer ornament)
  • Automatically sizes the ornament to a given width — we set the default to 4.5 in so it fits into a 5x7 plastic sleeve
  • Type as many names as you like
  • Automatically sorts the names by length, or you can turn this off
  • Put + or - at the end of a name to make it bigger or smaller
  • Add Paws, Angel Wings, or any other symbols to the names
  • Pick any symbol for the top shape on the tree
  • Choose any font (lots of good recommendations in the template)

This tree also has a 3D Print option which looks great! Just type the names, download the generated 3MF file, and you’re ready to print.

Infographic: When does Maker Christmas start?

We were curious when the maker community actually starts downloading and making Christmas items so we pulled some data. Analyzing 600,000+ template downloads on Cuttle in 2024-2025, we graphed what percentage of these were in the Christmas category.

On Cuttle, we see Christmas downloads begin to ramp up in July. By November, Christmas downloads are over 50% of all downloads on Cuttle. We see a peak in the first half of December, as expected, then a trail-off with 15% of downloads in the first half of January still being Christmas related.
